Thank God it’s Friday pt 37

27 Nov

Not sure how many times I’ve said it so far this year, but THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY. We have all been so busy this week and everyone wants everything done RIGHT NOW. Well, let me tell you all that right now, I’m planning on going home for a curry and a beer!

Anyway, here’s one to keep you going: Mark Mulholland and our lovely client Emma, in Cork on a major video shoot for the Survitec Group. And yes – they did get wet… very.

Survitec-vid-shoot

For those of you unfamiliar with Survitec, they’re only the world’s number one supplier of military and civilian aviation and marine survival products, and they make stuff like this:

Impressive stuff, all promoted with loving care and attention to detail by Whitenoise. Awesome.

It’s been a long time coming…

H.E.A.P. Report
It’s been a long time coming, but this week saw the launch of the HEAP Report. The Hierarchy of Earnings, Attributes and Privilege Report was commissioned by Whitenoise clients the equality think-tank TASC and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions to establish the extent of income inequality in Ireland.

The report findings were launched in the Gresham Hotel in Dublin, and were attended by the Irish national media and press, all of whom covered the event in the national news – see below for a snapshot of the project and our involvement…

Not only is this a very important piece of research, the H.E.A.P. Report is a vital tool to raise awareness of the wide disparity and inequality in earnings in Ireland, and will be a valuable teaching resource in schools.

Whitenoise are very proud to have been an essential part of the Report’s production, and particular mention should go to Paul and Alix who were tasked with making sense of very complicated research findings and translating it into this groundbreaking piece of design.

Poppintree Youth Project
While we were down in Dublin we also took time to call in to see our friends at the Poppintree Youth Project, in Ballymun, North Dublin. Now that their new corporate identity is finalised and they’re in the process of settling into their fantastic new home, our attention is turning to advertising, promotions and online presence…

Well done to Steven for creating a brilliant new corporate identity and masterminding all of the various branding elements as they are implemented. keep checking back for more on this very important project.

He’s Just showing off…
Not directly work-related, but check out Adam setting up his awesome new 27 inch iMac. It’s a beast…

So now Adam is constantly watching his back for signs of jealousy from his disgruntled work colleagues. ‘Tough’ says Adam.

Vital Research…
Despite appearances to the contrary, this isn’t the Whitenoise kitchen at lunchtime, it’s our design teams conducting some serious research on a new product range, ‘Glorious Tarts’ for which we are designing the packaging. Clemency (second from the left) was the lucky winner in the logo presentation, so she got to eat all the buns…

And sticking with motion graphics and new media, it’s been a very busy week for Peedy, Ryan and Adam with various clients requiring video, animation, event graphics and TV title sequences (and the odd website here and there). Here’s our latest for the BBC – title animation for the documentary “Lads to Dads’, broadcast this week…

On the corporate front, here’s a nice piece of animation work for our friends at BDO Stoy Hayward…

There’s a lot more of this type of work currently in the studio, but some of it still top secret hush hush, so you’ll just have to keep checking back for more. I think all this is quite enough for a Friday though. See you on the other side…

So Funny… So True…

Apologies in advance for the ‘colourful’ language, but I just thought this was so funny… and so true, too. I personally know people just like this…

So funny.

SAME-SAME

So last night saw the launch of the Northern Ireland Design Alliance in the Ulster Hall, with a really interesting talk by Jonathan Sands, chairman of Elmwood (officially the world’s most effective brand consultancy! Yikes!). In the spirit of shameless name dropping, I introduced myself to him at the start of the night as years ago I was a kinda-sorta neighbour, working for another very large and successful design studio about 3 miles down the road from Elmwood. He knows my old boss very well, so I asked him to pass on my regards (if he remembers me from 16 years ago…) Happy days.

Jonathan’s talk was very engaging and extremely insightful, and I suspect we all came away wishing we could bottle what he has. All in all a great night, and very inspiring.

Talking of inspiring, humble little old Whitenoise still keep managing to turn out some stunningly attractive work – and here’s a few edited highlights for your perusal – first up, here’s Daniel’s great illustrative approach to the new Translink Customer Comms campaign…

So well done us on some, and fingers crossed for the others. We haven’t decided what to enter in the ICADs yet, but keep checking back and we’ll keep you posted.
I reckon that’s enough for now, don’t you? Goodnight.
