It’s Official…

28 Aug

It’s official, and you heard it here first – film stars are larger than life characters: Witness this publicity pic of Professor Paul Allen, star of  ‘The Water Cycle’ and the forthcoming ‘The Solar System’ (to be premiered next week at the Whitenoise Book 6 launch at the Naughton Gallery, Queen’s University, Belfast) and the man behind the face, quiet, unassuming family man Paul Allen. And real Paul is actually stood on an orange crate. Just like Tom Cruise.

I know what you’re all thinking – do we ever do any real work? Course we do – how else do you think we pay for all this carry on? Keep checking back for more as the launch of Book 6 approaches…

A quick catch-up

27 Aug

Hey, it’s 11.30-ish on a Thursday night – what better thing could I be doing other than updating the Whitenoise blog? So, for now, here’s a quick roundup of what’s hot off the press…

First up, here’s a very dodgy iPhone pic of some press sheets of the posters included in Book 6. Trust me, they look AAAWSOMMME in the flesh…

Next up, I know it’s old news, but here’s a few pix of some of the BBC Tall Ships branding – various designers worked on this, but I think Ingrid took the lead on artwork production on this…

Now for a really lovely job by Lynsay – the new ICVA training manual…

Right, no cash prizes, but just for fun, anyone recognise this?

Yes, that’s right – it’s the SS Nomadic, service ship to the Titanic as it prepared to sail on its fateful maiden voyage, currently on a rolling restoration and recently opened to the public. Clemency has been busy working on a variety of ’show and tell’ materials for this historic ship…

Next up, here’s yet another branded taxi – this time for the Samaritans, courtesy of Ingrid…

Now here’s an interesting one – can’t remember who worked on this, but here’s a new promo campaign for Big Telly Theatre Company for their ‘Spring Chickens’ productions…

And that’s it for tonight, ladies and gentlemen. Apologies in advance, but updates are going to be a bit patchy as we draw closer to the launch of Book 6 – naturally that event is taking quite a lot of our attention at the moment, but it’s going to be epic.

If you’re a Whitenoise client, we’ll see you all on Wednesday the 2nd at the Naughton Gallery at Queen’s, and if you’re not, but are curious to see what all the fuss is about, the whole thing will be running in exhibition form from Thursday the 3rd until the 10th. Opening hours throughout are 11.00am to 4.00pm, but Thursday it’s also open until 9pm as part of the Belfast Late Night Art initiative… See ya there…

It’s all coming together. Sort of.

21 Aug

For those of you who are too desperate to wait, take a look at some out-takes from Professor Paul Allen’s new masterpiece, “The Solar System”…

It’s gonna be Super!

We’re in safe hands…

13 Aug

Literally as I type this, Professor Paul Allen is being filmed in a top secret hi-tech location (Peedy’s conservatory) for his second broadcast, this time on the nature and origins of the Solar System, for inclusion on the splendid Whitenoise Book 6 DVD…

Believe me, it’s going to be legendary…

…pssst!

The clock is ticking… The public launch of Whitenoise Book 6 is coming round fast, so it’s all hands to the pumps. The associated exhibition will run in the Naughton Gallery at Queen’s University in Belfast until Thursday 10 September, so hopefully we’ll see you all there…

On a different note, take a look at the new Annual Report for the Northern Ireland Prisoner Ombudsman, by Lynsay. It looks absolutely beautiful in print, and pretty cool here, I think you’ll agree…

This next one’s for fans of Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen (hope I spelt that right Larry!) who’ll be chairing the new BBC “House of the Year” show that Team Peedy and Mark Canavan are currently working on…
